Is an estimate a customs determination?
No. TariffTrust gives informational estimates from published official sources. US Customs and Border Protection determines the duty on an entry; binding classification rulings come from CBP. Use it to prepare, check and explain what your broker files.
Do you classify my products?
No. Type a few words in the calculator and it suggests the lines of the official tariff whose description matches, each with its base rate; the HTS explorer shows where each sits. The choice of code is yours, or your customs broker's: TariffTrust never picks one for you.
Where does the data come from, and how fresh is it?
The USITC tariff schedule and its Chapter 99 notes, CBP notices and regulations for fees, and the Federal Register for updates. Sources are checked every six hours and archived with a checksum. A rule of a new edition only goes live once it passes its own test cases; a rule that does not is held back, and the products it touches get no estimate rather than a wrong one.
What happens when information is missing?
The result says so. A question with an ordinary case (no exclusion claimed, an ordinary entry) takes that case: the estimate is given, names each assumption and shows what another answer would give. A question without one, or a missing input such as a complete code, makes the status "needs information", with the fields to fill. No amount is ever assumed to be zero, and a subtotal of what is established is shown apart from any total.
Which measures are covered?
Base duties, Section 301, Section 232, Section 338, the Section 201 quartz safeguard, Russia's column 2 rates, and MPF and HMF fees, with dated history from the first edition in service. AD/CVD duties are excluded. The coverage page lists what every publication covers.
What happens when I reach a limit?
The workspace's owners and admins get an email at 80% and at 100% of the month's estimates and API requests. Past the limit, new estimates and requests are refused, with a message that says so, until the quota renews the next month or you move to a larger plan; everything saved stays available. A plan also tracks a set number of products: a product beyond it is refused the same way.
How does the free trial work?
You choose your plan when you create your account, and Stripe's secure page asks for a payment card: nothing is charged during the trial, and your first payment, monthly or yearly, is due at its end unless you cancel before. The trial is available once per person, whatever the account or the alias of the address.
Can my software or an AI agent use it?
Yes, on plans that include API access. Create a server-side key with only the permissions it needs, call the REST API one line or 200 lines at a time, or connect an MCP client.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. The workspace owner cancels from the Billing page, in Stripe's billing portal; access continues until the end of the period paid. Nothing is deleted: the owner can still download the saved estimates, their proof bundles and the portfolios afterwards, without subscribing again, and subscribing again reopens everything.
